Created by M. Allen Hall

Fight to free your home from the terrible rule of The Baron in this campaign for Mausritter.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Production Update: Books have arrived!
5 days ago – Sat, Mar 28, 2026 at 02:56:51 AM

I'm back with the March update, and I'm happy to report that the books have arrived, and they look great!

What Happens Next

  1. In the next couple of days, I'll be hitting the Charge Cards With Notice button in BackerKit, so you will receive an email asking you to review and update your information before shipping fees are charged.

  2. Once this process completes (2-3 days after I push the button), anyone that ordered digital add-ons will receive a notification email that those are available. You will then be able to download the digital versions of all of the games that you requested when you backed this project.

  3. A few days after that, I will push the Lock Addresses With Final Notice button, which will send another email to give you another chance to make sure everything looks right before stuff starts goes in the mail.

  4. Once those processes are complete, I will start shipping!

Important Note for UK and EU Backers:

In order to handle some taxes and certain regulations, packages to the UK and EU will be going through my fulfillment partner Peregrine Coast Press in Leeds, UK/England. We are still a few weeks away from this, but you may receive a notification from your mail service about a package from Peregrine Coast Press (and not me). That will be your rewards package! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or issues.

That's it for now. I need to order some packing materials and get ready for packing up these books!

Production Update: We're On A Boat
about 2 months ago – Sat, Feb 14, 2026 at 03:43:45 AM

Hello!

A quick update on production over here for The Baron's Grip. I've received word that the books and asset packs have been handed over to the freight forwarding company, and we expect them to be on a cargo ship leaving China today. That means we have 4-5 weeks for them to get across the Pacific, and then another couple of weeks for them to get to me.

Once they arrive, I will send another update to let you know. Until then, here's a sneak peak at the finished book with some of Jamie Douglas's wonderful item illustrations.

Digital Rewards

I'm wrapping up the digital edition, and I plan to release that before the end of February. Because of the finicky details of digital distribution through BackerKit, I am going to be waiting to distribute the digital add-ons until I charge cards for shipping, which I won't do until the books arrive and I make sure they look good. But everyone will get access to the campaign book and the asset pack downloads soon.

BackerKit Surveys

It looks like we still have a few backers that have not filled out their BackerKit surveys. If you cannot find the email inviting you to complete the survey, you can always head to this address to find it: https://the-barons-grip.backerkit.com/. The same link should work if you want to change anything in your survey as well.

My Next Project

The Kickstarter campaign for my Liminal Horror campaign book UHF Contact is live and funded! A three-part adventure of analog horror, UHF Contact includes An Abbreviated Horror RPG (my fully playable Liminal Horror rules summary) and Alone in the Dark (solo tools for Liminal Horror), everything that you need to get started as a Facilitator or solo player. I'm working with David Szilagyi for art and Josh Domanski for editing, and I'm very excited about what we are putting together.

As always, thank you for your support! I'll be in touch when those books land on my doorstep.

Project Update: Production has begun!
2 months ago – Thu, Jan 22, 2026 at 03:29:11 AM

Hello all!

I'm back, as promised, with an update to let you all know that production has begun on the books! We had set a goal for ourselves of getting the books on the boat before the New Year holidays shut everything down in China, and I think we are going to sneak in just under the wire there.

The primary remaining work is sorting out the cross-collaboration leaflet with Fey Light Studio. We have started brainstorming, and that will certainly be wrapped up before the books get off the boat (we can expect 5 weeks for shipping from China once production is complete).

That just leaves the digital edition to sort out, which I plan to dive into once the last physical products are ordered.

In the meantime, I have been working on a little horror adventure zine for Zine Quest over on Kickstarter:

UHF Contact is a collection of 3 modern horror adventures for the Liminal Horror RPG. This collection is being designed specifically to support solo play, including my Liminal Horror solo toolset, though the adventures play just as well in a multiplayer game. If this sounds interesting, give the campaign a follow by clicking here; we'll be launching in the next couple of weeks!

Backer Surveys Incoming
3 months ago – Tue, Dec 30, 2025 at 04:27:06 AM

End of Year Update

We are almost a month out from the end of the campaign. As of now, the Pre-Order store is open, and Backer Surveys have been sent out. Your survey and this update should be arriving in your inbox at about the same time.

Filling out the survey promptly is a big help for my production planning, but please note that you will not be charged for anything until all of the rewards have been produced and I am ready to start shipping. This will probably be in March or April 2026.

In the time since the campaign closed, I have been working on final edits and proofreading while Jamie has been wrapping up the last few illustrations. Everything is coming along nicely.

That's all for now. The next update will probably be when I've placed the order with the printer.

Thank you!

December Update
4 months ago – Wed, Dec 17, 2025 at 12:49:51 PM

Hello all!

I'd like to start with a huge Thank You! to everyone that backed and spread the word about The Baron's Grip. Mausritter Month absolutely blew my expectations away, and I am so excited to be able to create this book.

Progress has been steady over here. I even got the proof copy from the printer:

The binding and cover were exactly what I had hoped for! Don't look too closely, since lots of changes are still being made, but it gets the idea across:

While I am grinding away at finalizing the text, and Jamie is knocking out the last of the illustrations, it will still be a little while before packages start arriving in your mailboxes. Here's the current timeline:

  • SOON: The pledge manager survey will be sent out to all backers.
  • January 2026: Final print files are sent to and approved by the manufacturer.
  • May 2026: The books are shipped to me.
  • June 2026: The books are shipped to you.

Is it possible that we will get ahead of this timeline? Yes.

Is it possible that we will fall behind? Given the state of global shipping and what it takes to move products into and out of the US, also yes. I will do everything I can to move expediently here.

But wait, you say, what about digital fulfillment? Once I finalize the files with the printer, I will dive into creating the digital edition. Could I just send out the print-ready PDF? Yes. But wouldn't it be better if there were things like hyperlinks and not references to "the inside back cover"? I think yes. As such, I expect digital fulfillment to occur in February. Digital add-ons will fulfill around the same time.

Anyway, for now, all I need from you is to keep an eye on your inboxes and fill out the survey as soon as it arrives.

Thank you all for supporting this project!
